More than 80 second and third grade students from Petersen Professional Development School were treated to a soccer field trip as part of the Rebel Reading Room program. Petersen students who demonstrate responsibility and good learning habits can earn the right to read and study in the Rebel Reading Room, a place inside the school’s library furnished by a Phi Kappa Phi Literacy Grant. The Rebel Reading Room is equipped with iPads and creates a fun learning environment filled with Rebel furnishing and graphics. UNLV PKP members have an open invitation to visit the Rebel Reading Room, where they can read to and interact with Petersen students.

Peterson Soccer Field Trip

The UNLV chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the national’s oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline academic honor society, held its 2014 Induction Ceremony on Tuesday, April 15 in the Student Union Ballroom, with the reception starting at 6 p.m. UNLV’s Chapter 100 welcomed approximately 200 students, faculty and staff members into the prestigious society.

Phi Kappa Phi 2014 Initiation Program

Membership is by invitation only and is open to no more than the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and 7.5 percent of juniors. Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 100 members may wear a special medallion and honor cord at Commencement, and their membership is noted on UNLV transcripts. Nationally, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi inducts approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni annually. Once inducted, Phi Kappa Phi members gain a lifelong passport to a global network of academic and professional opportunities.

Donate your unwanted used/new books from any genre. All books collected will be distributed to other organizations to promote literacy and the love of learning.
